Back in December, I mentioned in this post that I wanted to focus on doing random acts of kindness. I cannot even begin to tell you how rewarding it has been to pay it forward. Joey and I are very, very blessed so it has been so much fun to be able to do something nice for someone else. Here are some of the things we did:
Sent Christmas cards to the miliary... my company bought a bunch of Christmas cards for the employees to sign and they would send them overseas. I grabbed a big stack of cards and passed them around to a bunch of co-workers to sign.
Donut Shop Breakfast... one morning Joey and I decided to go get donuts for breakfast. As the cashier was ringing up our order, I told her I wanted to pay for the guy behind us. She seemed kind of surprised and ask what he ordered. The first thing the guy asked me was "why are you paying for my breakfast" and I said that we just wanted to do something nice for him. He was so appreciative. I know we made his day.
Kroger Giveaway... this was by far, my favorite random act of kindness. I had previously bought a handful of $5 Starbucks gift cards and we wondered around the store looking for people to give them to. With no luck, we decided to just head to the register to check out. While we were checking out, I told the cashier that I wanted to get a $10 gift card to the store. As soon as she rang it up, I turned around and handed it to the family behind us to use towards their groceries that day. They were absolutely shocked. After our groceries were in the bags, I handed the cashier and the guy who bagged our groceries a $5 Starbucks card. The cashier was so amazed by our random acts of kindness she turned around to tell everyone behind her what we just did.
I hope this encourages everyone to take a little time every once in a while to do something nice for someone you've never met. It is the greatest feeling to do something for someone else and to expect nothing in return. My goal is to continue to do this as often as possible. Have you done any random acts of kindness recently?

ReplyDeleteAllow me to suggest another random act of kindness- come visit meee in Atlanta!
That is so sweet. I love reading stories like this. Recently, someone paid for my coffee and bagel at Starbucks. About a week later, I went back and paid for the car behind me! It feels good to make other peoples day :)
ReplyDeleteLove this! It warms my heart. Good for y'all. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the grocery store idea. I bought kolaches and donut holes for my team at work last week. I definitely think it brightened their day :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet! I love the idea of handing out gift cards at the grocery store. As silly as this sounds, I've always just paid for the car behind me in the drive thru or done things secretively so I don't have to face the person's questions/weird looks. Haha! I should try it..I'm sure it's even more rewarding!
ReplyDeleteNew follower!
